Dead Space Continue

I got my Xbox back and the Dead Space run is back on. Yesterday I recorded and loaded up all of chapter 4 online and they are ready to view. Next up is 5... ugh.

For those who have played Dead Space know whats on chapter 5. He is probably the one necro that always has stasis on him. The Hunter. I've played DS through tons of times and I'm still scared by that guy. Anyway, the problem is when I'm in the cryogenics room and I have to freeze the Hunter. On my test run way before I started recording my runs, I was able to do it in two tries. Not bad, but for the video, I want to keep it down to a single no mistake run. Also, the instensive care room where the hunter and several other necros are lurking is a tough one. I have to wait for Kendra to unlock the door so I can continue. But with all those enemies coming after me with no stasis to slow down the hunter or his lackies... it will be very tough. I don't remember how many restarts I did in my test run on that part, but I'm sure it was a lot.

Chapter 6 will be easy even with the Leviantan. I found an easy ammo conserving way to kill him. But that is a big long level. Be prepared to see 5-7 vidoes on chapter 6. I'll try to rush, but if I do, I'll do mistakes and make the run look bad. We'll see how it goes.

Just keep a eye on my channel for updates. Or maybe I'll post them here whichever.

I really didn't expect that

This was another weekend packed full of drifting. We had a competition at Great Mall, and today we were supposed to have a practice comp, but we just had a session.

The Great Mall comp was a success. Not for me though. Sadly I had to miss out on the first round of the tandems. (double elimination) Great mall is full of carpet and the cars sliding around on carpet with A LOT of people walking by dragging their feet means there is a lot of static electricity going around and my car was affected by it. I lost my servo and was left without steering for the rest of the event after qualifying. My speed control was acting up too, but it started working later that day when I was fixing up my car for the session on sunday. I was pretty bummed but luckily another driver let me borrow his car for the second round. I advanced once, but was eliminated. It was awesome I had a second chance, but the car I was using was very powerful and hard to control. Some of the other drivers, I was told, were amazed I was able to handle a car that had a reputation as one of the hardest to control. That was cool to hear, I guess I can thank my driving style for that.

Today was a good session but the heat kept most people off the track for most of the day. But that wasn't it. The track was setup at Fast Pace Racing and that parking lot where we set up the track is known for it's bumpy, uneven surface. I was able to setup my car so that it excelled on the track. I'm happy about that because I realized that all my time spent drifting really pays off and my team leader was glad to see that. He just suggested I get a faster motor. I really don't see why since I'm using the Velineon brushless on 2S lipo. I think it's plenty fast but he days I need more speed. There are other things I need to worry about before I get a faster motor anyway.

Lets see...gaming news...

I haven't had the chance to talk my cousin into giving me back my Xbox because I've been busy with work and school. I plan to get it back sometime this week because I really want to play Dead Space again and finish that run.

Rally time!

I just got in a TB01 I spotted over on RCTech and just like the last one, I'm very happy to have one. Yes, I did own a TB01 rally before but I didn't care much for R/C rally at the time and I traded it for a TA03F. Now I have another one and I plan to get rally more popular; at least in my area.

It will be tough. First I got to get people interested and that alone will be freakin' hard plus, I have to figure out how to do rally events here. If anyone has seen the R/C rally videos on youtube, you will see how they do it. Some good things, nice scale looking tracks, cars are also scale looking, level playing field and I think they use the same timing system as the WRC. Bad: they have to chase after their R/C car... That really defeats the purpose of the radio part of radio control. Might as well take a broom stick and push the car through the track.

Currently I'm thinking of an enticing way to get people interested by coming up with appealing events. So far I've come up with a autocross/gymkhana stlye events. Just set up a track like we do for drift events except off road and set up cones, track dots, etc and use the terrain to make a challenging course that the driver will try to get the fastest time. Also I will try to get several tracks so that we can also do stages and get an overal time just like in the WRC.

There are holes in my plan but I'm still working on it. I've got to do that and then fix up the TB01. It didn't come with any broken parts, but the optional long arm suspension has A LOT of play in all four arms... I started getting most of the problem area but still have a lot to go.

Ahhh.. who cares?

Well, I'm flip flopping. I don't care if no one watched the Dead Space run I'm going to finish it... as soon as I get my Xbox back. I let my cousin borrow it and he's having fun playing Gears of War 2 so it's going to be hard to get it back.

But when I do get it back, I'll continue my run that ended on chapter 4. The first Brute encounter with no stasis! Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuuun! But seriously, defeating a Brute isn't very hard especially that first one that shows up on the bridge. They only become a problem when the room get smaller. Also, I'm going to try to get a 50% or more run on the A.D.S cannon. Even though I already got that achievement, I'm going to do it again just to show off. Haha!

Yesterday I logged some more time on Red Dead Revolver and I found a very speedy way to finish the train chapter! Well, I didn't just find it but it's the first time I'm documenting it. I'm going to try to get a video of RDR showing some quirks that the A.I has. Weird though, the game has good A.I, yet they still do some stupidly funny things. Hmm. The video will feature mostly A.I lolz and that speed run tactic on the train level.

Keep watch.

Unbelievable...

Well, as if my PS2 situation wasn't bad enough, now I have memory card problems. This is way worse then a disc read error or even the RRoD. Why? I have a 100% complete game of SFOS on that memory card. SFOS players know that you can't play that game online anymore and they should also know that you NEED to play online to get 100%!!! GAH!

Maybe the card is ok. Basicly what happened was I loaded up Red Dead and it said the save was corrupt and it couldn't load it. That made me quite mad because I almost unlocked every charcter in showdown mode. No I might have to start all over. If that is the only save that is corrupted, then there is no problem. I'll just have to restart the game and make a new save.

Hmmm It works?

Turns out my PS2 only works with certain games and luckily, one of my newest game (Red Dead Revolver) still works. Yesterday I was doing some levels and I realized that the first gun the game is the crappiest. Yes that's right, a new constraint run idea was born. Well, not yet. First I have to play through the whole game to see if it's possible. Mostly because in one level, you get captured and all your weapons are taken and you have to steal some off of enemies. I'm still contemplating what to do on that level. Also, I'm thinking of leaving out the levels that don't have Red as the playable character or I could think of some constraints for those ones. Might be tough since some of them only have one weapon to use or some other hard game play element already there. I may have to go with skipping them. I'll post an update when I start the run.

For now, the constraints are:

Hard Mode
Old Pistol only

Once I think of more, they will be listed.

Damn lousy PS2...

My PS2 is having disc read errors even though it doesn't show that dreaded screen. What's happening is, I put in the disc, close the lid and press the power button and the game never loads. It just goes to the system screen. So yeah, no progress in anything for now. I don't want to contact Sony because I doubt they even support the PS2 anymore. Even if they do, I don't really care. I've been doing more R/C stuff lately anyway.

Speaking of...

I just had a weekend PACKED with drifting. On Friday, I was at the LHS on their track and I helped them with the pre track that was going to be set up on Saturday. Saturday was going to be a drift demo at a mall close to that hobby store. It was great, lots of drifters showed up, and we had crowds around the track the entire day. I also heard my LHS was able to sell several kits during the demo. Thats good because I want them to stay in business. Then on Sunday, I was at a session at a smaller shop near my LHS for a session. It was a hot day and I was still beat from Saturday. But it was fun. It was the first time I drifted on a uphill track. It was a new challenge for my TA05. It left the bottom of my chassis all scratched up... Oh well, it was only 3 Racing.

I'm going to take a break for a while from drifting.

Update on the Staff of Kings run

I'm not sure just how many people have played SoK but I have to tell those who haven't that it is not easy. No, It's not a hard game. I mean it's not easy because the game isn't finished. The game designers left parts of the game unfinished (the controls for one thing) and getting through without mistakes is a very difficult. I'm going to try to get the first few chapters online soon. (yes, few chapters. I know where to go in the levels so I can get through the first ones fast.) I'll update my progress later on.

First post, what is going to be on here?

This blog is in conjunction with my youtube account and I will be posting text in response to the videos I come out with (mostly game related). For example, I will probably be posting my findings on my discontinued Dead Space constraint run.

Also, I will be posting about my experiences in my other hobby: R/C drifting. What parts I want to buy, where some cool deals I find, tips, etc.

First off, I want to address the discontinued Dead Space run. I know I just started putting the run up and now I'm stopping? Yes. That is correct. I'm ending the run because there isn't much interest in it. (I measure interest by video views) After a few days with 0 views on some videos, I pulled the plug. Why waste my time recording the run and re doing the same levels over and over if no one is going to watch the final video? I'll post my comments on the segments I did get online in a later post.

Anyway I also found a game that doesn't have any walkthrough for it and decided to do one for it. It's actually going to be a Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings walkthrough. I've been a Indy fan ever since I was a little kid. So when I saw that game on the shelf at the store, I just had to pick it up. After completing the game a few times and not seeing any video guides of the game, I decided I'll be the one to do it.

Now for the R/C news...

I've come across with a serious case of Tamiyaitis. I have been going to site and filling the shopping carts with everything for my TA05/TB03/TA03. I don't actually buy what I put in the cart, but I really want to...

Right now my prime focus is getting Tamiya option parts for my TA. My plan is to use every compatable TA05MS part on my TA. So far, I have the bulkheads, spur assembly, and gears in my sights. Later on, I'm going to have a scratch built MS! It's going to take a while because all the parts I need are scattered around several sites and I prefer to buy from one site rather then 3 or more.

Right now though, I currently trying to go LiPo. I got the parts for my charger, all I need now are batteries. Luckily, a local drifter is willing to sell me a very nice Orion 3400 for $40. Of course I'm going to buy it! Haha

Thats all for now.
